Open PI Positions at SMART

Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) sincerely invites outstanding talents at all levels in biomedical frontier research from renowned universities and research institutions worldwide to join us as independent Principal Investigators (PIs). Areas of interest include but are not limited to Neuroscience, Immunology, Bio-Interactions (Cryo-ET), Aging, and Rare Diseases. 

This faculty opening will be valid for an extensive period of time. Recruitment areas will be dynamically adjusted in alignment with SMARTs development plans and will be announced promptly. Positions and Qualifications

Applicants at various levels are welcomed.

The basic qualifications for Senior Principal Investigator are:

1. Possession of a tenured professor position or equivalent positions in well-known universities or research institutions at home and abroad;
2. Recognized academic achievements and contributions;
3. Evidence of international reputation and influence;
4. Excellence in teaching graduate classes and mentorship of young researchers;
5. Ability to lead the development of disciplines or catch up with the international advanced level.

The basic qualifications for Tenured Principal Investigator are:

1. Possession of an associate professor or an equivalent position in well-known universities or research institutions at home and abroad;
2. Outstanding capability to conduct innovative research and potential to become a leader in the field;
3. Excellence in teaching and mentoring graduates;
4. Evidence of international recognition.

The basic qualifications for Tenure-Track Principal Investigator are:

1. Possession of a Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral research experience;
2. Academic achievements comparable to those of an assistant professor or equivalent position in well-known universities or research institutions at home and abroad;
3. Recognized innovative research capabilities within the academic field;
4. The ability to conduct independent research and potential for obtaining tenure positions.

Responsibilities

1. Follow the basic goals and development plans of SMART, independently lead research groups to conduct innovative scientific research.
2. Independently apply for various scientific research projects and funds.
3. Manage research groups, and guide the research work of group members.
4. Mentor graduate students and teach graduate courses;
5. Actively participate in relevant activities of SMART, including academic conferences, graduate admission, talent recruitment, and academic exchanges and collaboration, etc.
