POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a compassionate Open Rank Rheumatologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to diagnose and treat rheumatic conditions. The position is on the principal non-tenure earning track. Essential duties include providing patient care and supervising and training medical students and rheumatology fellows in both ambulatory and inpatient setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent diagnostic skills and exemplary knowledge of general medical practices, and ultimately, be a good leader and work well within a multidisciplinary team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- CLINICAL: Candidate will practice in an outpatient clinic with some inpatient consults treating rheumatology patients. Lead outreach efforts to improve outcomes in at risk patients. Complete clinical obligations such as chart completion, patient follow-up, etc.
- TEACHING: Expected teaching duties include the teaching of the rheumatology fellows, medical residents, and Skin & Bone 4th yr. medical student clerkship. Supervising, teaching, and mentoring students, residents, and fellows in the clinic. Dependent on Rank, may mentor junior physicians and physician scientist faculty and fellows.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate or Full Professor – Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine. Candidate must be Board-certified/Board-eligible in Internal Medicine/Rheumatology.
PREFERRED:
Applicants with teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience will be most competitive. Experience in an academic medical center with proven track record in research with meritorious publications in rheumatology are highly desirable.
