  • NPTC or equivalent land-based qualifications (Ride on mower, hedge cutter, strimmer, pole saw).
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • ILM Level 3 or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
  • COTS Training or willingness to work towards.
  • RoSPA Operational Play Inspections Examination or willingness to work towards.
  • QFS/City and Guilds Level 3 in Forestry/Arboriculture/Horticulture or equivalent.
  • PA1/PA6a.
  • NRSWA S1 and O1 willingness to work towards.

The job roleWe are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take on the challenging role of Open Spaces Supervisor.This is an exciting opportunity for a positive and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated and hardworking Green Spaces team in a Supervisory role. The main aim of this role is to motivate and manage the day-to-day activities of the open spaces team, and will be responsible for our Grounds Maintenance, Tractor Drivers, Cleansing Operatives and NATS Teams.The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day health and safety of their team, ensuring risk assessments and method statements are completed and updated in line with evolving legislation and will be responsible for implementing these changes.Good record keeping is a must for the successful candidate who will be required to attend meetings, perform team meetings/toolbox talks, undertake staff development programs and appraisals, initiate performance reviews and ensure that the Key Performance Indicators of the team are being met and exceeded.This role will also require a competent person to train members of staff in-house on machinery and best practice to ensure the highest quality of work for our residents.Work hours are required to be flexible to attend scheduled and unscheduled work demands such as early/ late exhumation, weekend and late running funerals, meetings and call outs. Time in lieu will be granted for these additional works.The successful candidate will be tasked with implementing the Green Spaces teams policies, goals and objectives and will be tasked with project work, creating and publishing tender documents, managing contracts and contract monitoring.Due to the seasonal aspect of this role, annual leave will be limited from April to July.For an informal discussion, contact Adam Aldridge on 01702 318053.Brentwood Council is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
