UN Women in Bangladesh supports the government to implement commitments to international normative standards on gender equality and women’s human rights. The new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2022-2026 was launched in 2021 and the corresponding UN Women Bangladesh Strategy Note (2022-2026), defining UN Women’s strategic engagement in Bangladesh, has also been finalized. The country strategy focuses on strengthening the national structures and mechanisms for gender mainstreaming in policies, plans and budgets; supporting efforts to prevent and eliminate violence against women; promoting women’s access to decent and safe work; promoting policies and government investment in women’s empowerment and resilience building in the context of climate change, humanitarian crisis as well as other threats to peace and security. UN Women works with a range of stakeholders in Bangladesh including the government, civil society and women’s organisations, youth, UN agencies and donors, to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
UN Women in Bangladesh is supporting the Government of Bangladesh with the Rohingya humanitarian crisis response. Leveraging its normative, operational and coordination mandate, UN Women has developed a humanitarian response programme in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to meet the specific needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized Rohingya refugee women and girls in the camps and the Bangladeshi host community women and girls in Cox’s Bazar. The objective of the programme is to ensure protection, as well as equitable and safe access to and benefit from life-saving humanitarian assistance and information to the most vulnerable, and marginalized Rohingya and host community women while assisting them to live with dignity, regain resilience and overcome restrictive gender norms. The programme promotes women’s participation and leadership in the camps and host community, peace and social cohesion building activities, and gender-responsive policing. UN Women is an active member of the Protection Sector, the Gender-Based Violence Sub-Sector (GBV-SS), and the Livelihoods and Skills Development Sector, and chairs the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group (GiHA WG) for the Rohingya Refugee Response to promote gender-responsive humanitarian action across humanitarian agencies in Cox’s Bazar.
Under the overall guidance of and reporting to the Head of Sub-Office in Cox’s Bazar and the secondary guidance of the Operations Manager of UN Women country office in Dhaka , the Operations Analyst leads and guides the Sub-Office Operations Team and fosters collaboration within the team, with programme staff and with other UN Agencies, pursuing a client-oriented approach. The Operations Analyst works in close collaboration with programme teams in the Sub-Office, providing close guidance to programme staff who perform adjunct operations functions, ensuring that such staff are knowledgeable of rules and procedures governing programme finances, donor reporting, and personnel. She/he also works in collaboration with operations staff in other UN Agencies
1. Coordinate the operations in the Sub-Office (CO) in accordance with UN Women rules and regulations and policies and strategies
2. Coordinate the planning, expenditure tracking and auditing of financial resources in accordance with UN Women rules and regulations and policies and strategies
3. Provide Human Resources services
4. Oversee procurement processes
5. Oversee fixed Assets and Leases Management
6. Coordinate information and communications technology (ICT) management
7. Serve as the focal point for security issues and ensure safety and security of staff
8. Participate in inter-agency activities
9. Contribute to knowledge sharing between the CO and RO
10. The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.
