The Organisation
Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency road, aeromedical and primary health services for people in rural and remote Australia. Mobile Patient Care (MPC) offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport primarily in Victoria and New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft.
MPC provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader, Operations and Team Leader, Aeromedical, these casual positions support and coordinate aeromedical and road-based non-emergency patient transports (NEPT) contributing to operational communications, dispatching crews and supervising the day-to day running of shifts including managing welfare and fatigue in accordance with RFDS and NEPT policies, procedures and clinical practice protocols.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Dispatching, coordinating and supporting road and air personnel
- Implementing actions that increase patients transported and appropriate transport decisions increasing aircraft and road crew utilisation
- Receiving incoming calls and/or online bookings and facilitating patient transfers
- Ensuring operational compliance and necessary incident reporting according to RFDS policies, procedures, NEPT regulations and clinical practice protocols
- Providing administration support, ensuring accurate data collection, invoicing and reporting
- Working with the Rosters team to ensure consistent staffing and working on short-term scheduling solutions
Qualifications and experience required:
- Understanding of Non-Emergency Patient Transport industry and associated regulations
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ASIC
- Experience with coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and conflicting priorities in a constantly changing environment
- Experience working with rostering software or highly component computer skills
- Aeromedical/flight operations and/or road-based operations experience desirable
Mandatory requirements:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- 2 Covid vaccinations + booster
- Annual Influenza vaccination
- Victorian Drivers Licence
- Obtaining and maintaining an ASIC
- Willing to undertake and National Police Check
- Willing to hold a working with children check

These casual positions require availability on a 24-7 roster with the ability to travel within Victoria on occasion with overnight stays and work outside of normal business hours
