About the Habitat Restoration Fund
The Habitat Restoration Fund (HRF) is a not-for-profit organisation with Deductible Gift Recipient Status founded in 2006.
Mission: To increase the habitat value of Forest and Wetlands on private and public land and to educate community on the importance of restoring our indigenous forests.
HRF actions this mission with a focus on on-ground works utilising the expertise of contractors and member volunteers who are actively engaged in educational campaigns. The HRF Board is made up of honorary office bearers and directors involved in the strategic direction of the organisation.
About the Position
Reporting to the HRF Board this position will administer and oversee organisational objectives originating in the HRF Constitution and the annual Strategic Plan. This will include leadership in communications between working committees and participation in one or more committees as required. It is expected that this position will drive key metrics for the organisation.
- To raise the professional profile of the HRF
- Weekly administration of the HRF in collaboration with the Secretary and more broadly in consultation with the Board to define tasks
- To assist the Board members to provide a firm financial base for the organisation by increasing membership, donations and grants in collaboration with relevant committees to fund the extension of hectares restored by the organisation to reach the strategic target.
Key Selection Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the board reporting to monthly Board meetings
- Work with the relevant Committees to implement membership and fundraising metrics e.g. Funding goal min 50k pa. Membership Numbers min 100
- Manage administration of projects including monthly reporting in conjunction with Works subcommittee (e.g. Keeping a projects master list updated, issuing of order number and job numbers for each project; authorisation of invoices for payment and grant acquittal at the end of a works project)
- Implement a works metrics with a goal 20% increase pa of base hectare projects
- Coordinate and manage volunteers who are engaged in grant writing, social media and works and any other campaign activities
- Carry out administrative duties in collaboration with the Secretary including incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintenance of records, renewing Memorandums of Understanding and public land works agreements – working with board members and subcommittees as required
- Meet company obligations and reporting requirements in collaboration with accountant and auditor: ASIC, ATO, Register of Environmental Organisations (REO), ACNC. (Book keeping is conducted independently and managed off site)
- Manage contractor relationships and monitor their performance against key performance metrics
- Monitor Grant applications in conjunction with Grants Subcommittee
- Alert the board to potential government, environmental, philanthropic and community contacts
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience in leading teams in the provision of business management and or administrative reporting to senior executives e.g. board reporting
- High level interpersonal skills and exceptional communication across committees
- Experience in developing and delivering metrics
- Understanding of not-for-profit sector and the corresponding legislation and regulations to achieve optimal organisational outcomes
- Ability to drive and commit to the most current strategic plan
- A passion, if not direct, experience in the environmental sector
Employment Requirements
This position is an administrative management role working in collaboration with the governance duties of the board to increase the organisation’s profile, funding and works.
This position is initially for 6 months with a review.
The appointed person will be on a 6 month contract.
The position will be paid a monthly fee on submission of an invoice and as authorised by the Board.
