Operations Senior Associate/Associate – Belize
Location: Belize

About this position
We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic, and results-oriented individual for the position of Operations Senior Associate/Associate who will work within several multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure effective and efficient planning and execution of essential development projects aligned to the IDB mandate in the country.
You will work in the IDB Country Office in Belize as part of the Country Department Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. This team is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing projects, programs, and studies in Belize.
What you’ll do:
- Participate in the design of operations supporting the preparation of project documents and monitoring project approval timelines.
- Support the preparation of project profiles and operational plans for technical cooperation projects.
- Assist in institutional capacity and risk analyses, preparation of project budgets, results frameworks and supports the development of fiduciary plans for execution.
- Provide technical support on the application of Bank operational policies and processes throughout the project execution and preparation of annual operating and execution plans, procurement plans, disbursement requests and other project documentation.
- Support the preparation of project supervision plans, monitoring and results reports, and follows up on their recommendations.
- Coordinate the organization of project-related missions and workshops.
- Analyze documentation on contractual conditions and processes corresponding actions and requests for contract and program modifications.
- Support the analysis of disbursement requests, validate eligibility of expenses, and assist in the analysis of budget transfers. Monitor disbursement projections.
- Collaborate on Project Closure workshops; collects relevant data for the preparation of the Project Completion Report (PCR); and upon request, follows up on the evaluation recommendations.
What you’ll need
- Education: Master´s degree in economics, business administration, finance, engineering, or similar studies. Certification in Project Management is desirable.
- Experience: At least three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in administrating projects financed by multilateral development institutions or other external donors. Knowledge of national procurement policies, norms, or practices and experience in writing reports is a plus.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Belize or a citizen of one of our 48 member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Belize.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
