About Orange Sky
At Orange Sky we have a couple of Operations Support Officer roles available both in a permanent and contract capacity. We are on a mission to Positively Connect Communities and we do this by providing the world’s-first free mobile laundry and shower service to people experiencing homelessness. We offer a platform for everyday Australians to connect by creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.
The Role
Our aim is to increase our impact and connect more Friends on the street – striving to improve is in our DNA at Orange Sky. This role is a key member of our dynamic Operations Team working within a group of six Operations Support Officers, who are vital to the smooth operation and continually improvement of services across Australia.
In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:
- Providing support to all aspects of the general volunteering journey including all aspects of the lifecycle from recruitment to exiting
- Establishing & managing relationships with volunteers, answering questions and escalating anything that could impact on a positive volunteering experience at Orange Sky
- Coordinating volunteer enquiries
- Assisting with responding to vehicle incidents and resolution in a timely manner
- Liaising with external suppliers and contractors to facilitate continuity of service
- Building shifts for new and existing services ensuring rosters are full and a pipeline of volunteers exists.
- Delivering general volunteer inductions

Are you an administrative superstar who is passionate about our cause? To be successful at Orange Sky, you need a genuine passion for our cause. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves delighting customers (or in Orange Sky’s case – our incredible volunteer base, and our friends on the street) and understands how to deliver high quality support and value to our services.
Additionally, the ideal applicant has:
- Proven experience in a similar role (2-3 years) in a fast-paced organisation ideally in the non-for-profit space
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with a highly diverse range of people and manage a large and diverse workforce
- Well-developed written skills and problem-solving ability
- Ability to travel and work flexibly as required
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently, and within a team
- Proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for our cause.
