Description of duties: This Imperiled Species Management Outreach Specialist position is located within the Imperiled Species Management Section (ISM) and will play a key role in advancing communications objectives by collaborating closely with agency staff and partners to enhance the Section’s visibility and messaging through strategic coordination efforts for ISM species and their habitats (Florida manatees, panthers, black bears, and marine turtles). Specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: collaborating with Communications, Community Relations and ISM staff to identify outreach goals and develop targeted digital content, printed materials, and other outreach activities; developing and implementing effective website design and management; assisting in designing and producing multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and infographics, to support external information sharing and engage stakeholders; providing training and support to staff members on website management tools and techniques to empower them to contribute to the Section’s outreach efforts; coordinating manatee and sea turtle annual decal development and distribution in collaboration with internal teams; assisting with hiring and oversight of ISM interns; assisting with developing and/or coordinating responses to public inquiries received via AskFWC; developing and/or assisting with public outreach events as needed; and performing other project-related duties and administrative tasks as directed. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one) as travel is required to perform the duties of this position.

Level of Education and Experience: Prefer a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, web design, biological sciences, or a related field and two years of professional experience in website design, digital marketing, or outreach. Proficiency in MS software applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; and graphic design software, website design, and SharePoint experience preferred.

OPS Employment Description: The position is classified as a full-time OPS (Other Personnel Services) position. The position is expected to work 40 hours per week and is paid for the number of hours worked rather than a salaried position. There is potential for participation in state health insurance benefits.
