The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is the voice for Australia’s oceans. We are Australia’s leading ocean conservation organisation and one of the founding members of Australia’s conservation movement. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Outreach Campaigner will engage designated local communities through door-knocking in Cairns to raise awareness about the Great Barrier Reef and the threats it faces. This position is essential in promoting AMCS’s Fight for the Reef Campaign through door-to-door outreach.
The Outreach Campaigner will encourage community participation by distributing signage, gathering petition signatures, signing up volunteers, and sharing opportunities for involvement in current AMCS campaigns and events. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to conservation efforts while gaining valuable experience in grassroots advocacy and public outreach.
THIS ROLE INVOLVES:
- Conducting door-to-door outreach campaigns within designated neighbourhoods in Cairns.
- Engaging with residents in a respectful and informative manner about AMCS’s mission and our Great Barrier Reef campaign.
- Encouraging participation in AMCS’s Fight for the Reef Campaign by distributing signage, gathering petition signatures, signing up volunteers and highlighting opportunities to engage with current AMCS campaigns and events.
- Collecting accurate and detailed data from interactions, adhering to data and privacy standards.
- Representing AMCS with professionalism and enthusiasm, embodying our values and commitment to marine conservation.

Training for this role and ongoing support will be provided. Previous experience in community outreach is not required. We encourage anyone passionate about protecting our Reef and who enjoys engaging with the community to apply.
