The Service – Sky Service
Centrecare’s Sky Service is a confidential counselling and support service for children aged between 4 – 14 and their families who are currently being supported through Family Supported Accommodation Services. We service Southern and Eastern suburbs covering areas from Victoria Park, Armadale and Fremantle to Rockingham.
Centrecare Sky Service encourages children and their families to reach their full potential and helps them feel confident, happy and safe.
About the Role
The primary objective of the Sky Service is to afford children aged 4-14 years of age every possible chance to overcome the challenges stemming from their encounters with homelessness through diverse therapeutic approaches and strategies. Extensive research consistently reveals that children who have experienced homelessness, especially those exposed to family violence, encounter higher levels of emotional and behavioural difficulties compared to their counterparts.
- To help children who have experienced homelessness or have been at risk of homelessness with the development of life skills and healthy child development through counselling and support.
- Undertake assessment and counselling of children specifically, and their families so as to improve and enhance their overall personal and social development, and their health and wellbeing.
- Through a case management approach, develop a client focused support plan for each child and their family.
- Make referrals to ongoing services if required and encourage children and families to stay connected to educational settings and supports, sport and recreation opportunities as well as physical and mental health services.
- Permanent full-time contract.
- Rostered 9am-5pm, 10am – 6pm shifts and Saturday shifts.
