Outreach & Development Specialist

Status: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried

Schedule: Flexible

Location: Hybrid Work Options – Juneau, AK

Summary

This position is responsible for implementing communications, community engagement, and fund development strategies that increase organizational visibility and connection; broaden awareness of programs and conservation priorities; increase donor support; and thoughtfully engage members to connect people with the land that sustains them.

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Develop and implement the annual Development Plan, working closely with the Development Committee.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities, process donations and acknowledgments, and maintain accurate records.,
  • Research, draft, review, and compile information for grant applications and reports.

Outreach

  • Manage and maintain the website(s) and social media accounts for the organization.
  • Develop and implement an editorial calendar and strategy to effectively engage with members.
  • Develop and design promotional materials (e.g., appeal letters, newsletters, press releases).

Events

  • Coordinate and facilitate successful fundraising events with board/staff/volunteers.
  • Coordinate 3-6 successful educational or community events each year with staff/volunteers/partners.

Stewardship & Conservation

  • Support narrative storytelling for lands programs, such as joining site visits to document land stewardship, developing volunteer and stakeholder materials, and gaining land trust-specific knowledge.
  • Design and/or coordinate the design of property signs and interpretive information for conservation lands.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in the focus areas for this position (above).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive writing, editing, and formatting.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Meta (Facebook, Instagram), and WordPress, and ability to learn and use tools such as Adobe Illustrator, DonorSnap, and MailChimp.
  • Bonus attributes (optional): grant writing, graphic design, photography, media outreach
