Employed by the London Borough of Camden, we are recruiting for 3 Outreach and Engagement
Officers who will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other
north London boroughs.

About the role

If you are an enthusiastic, outgoing person looking for a diverse role that gets you out and
about, an Outreach and Engagement Officer is ideally suited. Within the role, you will assist
in the delivery of various outreach events and engagement activities across north London. The
aim will be to raise awareness of how to reduce waste, increase recycling and reuse and promote
services available to residents. You will therefore be able to provide correct information to
the public via face-to-face events with audiences that have varying degrees of knowledge and
understanding of waste related issues.

You will be responsible for liaising with stakeholders to identify opportunities for outreach
events and scheduling your time. You will also contribute towards the monitoring and evaluation
of engagement activities. Hence, time management, organisation and punctuality are all key
attributes of the post holder.

Alongside the delivery of face-to-face outreach, the post holder will assist with the wider
Waste Prevention team’s project work. Examples of such work include engaging with businesses or
corresponding with recipients of the North London Community Fund to monitor their progress.

The role will be a mixture of desk-based and face-to-face work. All temporary workers are
expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to their post
and may be asked to perform other duties.

About You

Do you enjoy engaging with people in a variety of different settings? Are you a strong
communicator who’s passionate about the environment? An Outreach and Engagement Officer will be
an approachable, confident person who has experience with working in public settings and
interacting with members of the public.

We are seeking individuals with an adaptable nature, who can show initiative working in a range
of settings and be proactive in their approach to delivering their work. You don’t shy away
from the challenge of influencing people to demonstrate pro-environmental behaviours.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals will thrive in this role.

You will be able to organise your diary, be punctual in your attendance and responses to
correspondence, and have practical experience of MS Office.

Whilst not mandatory, possession of a valid and clean UK driving licence would be advantageous.
