Make a real difference in your community
Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.
About the Role
We’re looking for an Outreach Recovery Worker to join our Recovery Steps Cumbria team based in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives, supporting individuals throughout their recovery journey and helping them access the services they need to achieve positive, lasting change.
Working across Barrow and the surrounding communities, you’ll provide outreach support to individuals who may be vulnerable, marginalised, or finding it difficult to engage with treatment and recovery services. Managing your own caseload, you’ll build trusting relationships, deliver person-centred interventions, and help people overcome barriers to accessing support.
This is a varied role that combines both independent and team-based working. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues and partner agencies, including housing providers, healthcare professionals, and criminal justice services, to ensure individuals receive holistic support tailored to their needs.
No two days are the same. While the role can involve supporting people with complex needs and encouraging ongoing engagement with recovery programmes, it also offers the opportunity to see the genuine impact of your work as individuals progress towards healthier, more stable lives.
About You
You’ll be passionate about supporting others, resilient in your approach, and committed to helping people achieve positive outcomes. You’ll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing your own workload, and building rapport with individuals who may be difficult to engage.
You will:
Experience within outreach services, drug and alcohol support, mental health, housing, social care, or related fields would be advantageous, although we welcome applicants with transferable skills and a genuine desire to support others.
Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
What We Offer
We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package:
