JOB DESCRIPTION

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) seeks a proactive and dedicated Outreach Worker to engage with communities in Basra ( Basra Center), particularly focusing on local farming and fishing populations, to support a project addressing the impacts of climate change. This project aims to strengthen livelihoods and
support climate-smart regenerative practices and natural resource management. The Outreach Worker will play a crucial role in identifying beneficiaries, conducting field visits, and facilitating access to project services while promoting gender inclusivity and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement and Awareness:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, small-scale farmers and stakeholders in Basra to promote understanding of the project and its objectives.
  • Conduct outreach activities to encourage participation in pilot initiatives and highlight the importance of natural resource management and water usage efficiency.
  • Facilitate awareness sessions on the project, including training programs, market information access and asset support opportunities.

Beneficiary Identification and Support:

  • Identify potential beneficiaries, including smallholder farmers, agribusinesses and women-led farming initiatives.
  • Conduct field visits and assessments to evaluate the needs and challenges of potential beneficiaries, ensuring alignment with project selection criteria.
  • Assist beneficiaries in registering for training programs and participating in project activities.

Facilitation of Training and Asset Distribution

  • Support the implementation of training programs on water efficiency and advanced irrigation techniques, ensuring that sessions are inclusive and accessible.
  • Assist in facilitating the setup and activities of water usage committees.
  • Provide follow-up support to beneficiaries involved in agribusiness startups, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collect and document beneficiary information, community feedback and progress in the adoption of innovative practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of outreach activities, community engagement efforts, and beneficiary interactions.
  • Provide regular reports to the Project Manager on outreach efforts, beneficiary feedback, and recommendations for improvement.

Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison between the project team and the local community, ensuring that community concerns and needs are communicated effectively.
  • Advocate for sustainable agricultural practices and inclusivity, fostering community support for project objectives.
  • Promote gender inclusion in all project activities, ensuring that women and marginalized groups are well-represented and supported.

Monitoring and Feedback:

  • Monitor beneficiary engagement and progress in pilot initiatives and their application of new techniques and practices.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to ensure that beneficiaries are maximizing the resources and opportunities provided through the project.
  • Collect feedback from beneficiaries and community members to improve project design and implementation.
