About the roleBalfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Managing Estimator or Senior Estimator, to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business based in within commuting distance of our Maxim office near Motherwell.Role Overview:

• The candidate will primarily be focussed on estimating for projects associated with Overhead Lines up to 400kV, for clients such as SSE and National Grid, but may will be required to work on other workstreams associated with Power T&D’s client portfolio.
• To lead OHL estimating team in producing competitive, thorough, well researched estimates and maintaining files/records as appropriate.
• Has strategic responsibility to a business unit for the OHL estimating function. Includes the governance as well as business change required to maintain procedure, skills and capability. Oversees parts of the business lifecycle relating to OHL Estimating.
• To provide an influential pre and post contract estimating management service to the designated business stream to meet profit, quality and service objectives through communication and understanding customer needs whilst providing effective leadership to the team

• Managing and delivering cost estimates and financial submissions across multiple tenders at various stages of scheme development.
• Preparing document pricing assumptions and clarification
• Undertaking or managing the process of quantity takeoffs in accordance with the appropriate Method of Measurement.
• Preparing document pricing assumptions and clarifications.
• Summarising Tender and in consultation with the Leadership Team, arrive at a Tender Price.
• Finalising estimates and preparing Tender Submission, including all Qualifications, Considerations and Supporting Documentation.
• Liaising with the Client and all parties concerned during the Tender period.
• Ensuring the efficient operation of all systems in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS).

Who we’re looking forOur ideal candidate should have experience of:

• Leading and managing a team of over head line estimators.
• Encouraging, collaborating and proactively contributing to teamwork and cross-functional working.
• Cascading directives, communications, safety briefings, general updates and procedural changes to team.
• Encouraging Graduates who are in placement within OHL estimating, including setting of objectives and monitoring.
• Estimating team compliance with Gated Lifecycle process and Digital Briefcase

Software & Systems

• Implementation of overseeing Candy estimating software used by OHL team.
• Maintaining Candy masters pertaining to OHL estimating – annual price updates and framework pricing.
