Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Central African Republic implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Medicine and Surgery with further specialisation or equivalent title in Paediatrics
  • Good knowledge of the English language
  • Solid experience in paediatrics and neonatology (at least 2 years of professional experience as a Specialist)
  • Previous professional experience in fragile countries and/or low resources settings
  • Adaptability to live and work in rural contexts

KEY DUTIES
The Paediatrician is part of a project aiming at strengthening paediatric and neonatal services at the Gambella General Hospital (GGH), the Gambella Primary Hospital (GPH) and in seven health centres. Specifically, s/he will:

  • support the clinical activities at hospital and health centres level
  • coordinate the implementation of training courses on CeMONC, BeMONC, Pathological Newborn Care, Nurturing Care, IPC in collaboration with the projects technical-clinical team
  • carry out on-the-job training activities of the staff dedicated to child services
  • contribute to the improvement of work organisation in the Paediatrics Department of the two hospitals
  • support the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of the two hospitals
  • contribute to the collection and analysis of neonatal and paediatric data
  • collaborate in the updating and implementation of clinical protocols
  • supervise project activities in collaboration with the technical-clinical team
