Painter Level I or II

Are you a skilled painter looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining and improving the appearance of Brigham Young University?  If so, we want to hear from you!  Our team of painters is responsible for ensuring that our buildings and structures always look their best, including the Missionary Training Center and BYU On Campus Housing.  We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from touch-up work to complete renovations.  You will work with a team of Physical Facilities employees who are passionate about what they do and hold high personal standards in line with the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  If you are a skilled painter with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence, both on the job and in your personal life, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity!

What you’ll do in this position: 

  • Strive to maintain the University Buildings & Grounds through efficient and effective paint practices.
  • Follow all safety procedures and keep accurate records.
  • Select and mix paints for desired color and finish.
  • Complete projects on time and within budget
  • Respond to maintenance requests from BYU faculty, staff and students.
  • Coordinate work with other BYU shops and collaborate as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness of working area
  • Complete and stay up to date with all trainings

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of painting experience
  • Basic knowledge of painting techniques and tools as well as attention to detail
  • Applicants with more experience may qualify for a level II position.

The starting salary could be higher if a candidate’s years of experience and education is higher than typical.

Pay Level: 50 or 51
Approximate Starting Salary: Level 1: $49,500 – $64,500, Level 2: $55,000 – $71,500
