Should this position revert to a short-term seasonal position (less than 90 days), your salary rate will be discussed with you during the interview phase of the process.The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. DCR is a dynamic agency, and is one of the largest park systems in the nation. The DCR system includes over 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, trails and parkways.
The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Park Interpreter.
Duties:
Housing is not provided by DCR.Salaries are based upon full-time/40 hours worked per week. Work schedules and days off are at the discretion of the Supervisor. This position may require working weekends and/or holidays and outdoors in all types of weather.
Qualifications First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.Minimum Entrance Requirements:Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in interpreting, recreation programming or environmental education in a public or private agency, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.Substitutions:I. An Associate’s or higher degree with a major in recreation or park management, park interpretation, recreation programming or environmental education may be substituted for the required experience.**Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.Special Requirements: None.
