The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Bureau of Parks and Lands Division, is recruiting to fill a Full Time Seasonal (27 Weeks) Park Manager I position, located at Roque Bluffs State Park.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is maintenance and personal services work supervising the operations and maintenance of Roque Bluffs State Park located in Roque Bluffs, Maine. Roque Bluffs is a day use park featuring a fresh and a saltwater beach, a playground, picnic areas, and outhouses. Primary duties include: managing all park operations including supervising one park employee; developing community relations; supervising and performing park maintenance; providing park interpretation and promoting the park in the community; performing park administration; supervising park protection and enforcement; managing emergency planning and response; supervising and providing staff training; recruiting and hiring park employees; enforcing rules and regulations; reporting income and use statistics; overseeing cash handling procedures, all customer transactions, making deposits and doing deposit slip reports; overseeing an operational and maintenance budget. The person in this position will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR, rule compliance, and chainsaw operation as a requirement of this position. The person in this position must be able to safely and efficiently operate a range of equipment including vehicles, tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and other power and hand tools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate’s Degree in Recreation Management or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. For the purposes of this classification, a year is defined as being the equivalent of a 25-week or more season.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class) Valid Class C Maine motor vehicle operator’s license.
