The City of South Portland is currently seeking a Park Ranger/Recreation Supervisor to join the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department. This is a full time, benefit eligible position with an opportunity to play a part in serving our community.
Position summary: Perform a variety of tasks administering and encouraging appropriate use of City space, including but not limited to public outreach, disseminating public information, and public facility supervision. Responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience at the department’s facilities and programs. 75% of duties are performed working in the outside parks and recreational areas (April – November) and 25% of duties are performed in supervision of inside recreational facilities (November – March).
Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent is required. Two (2) years of experience in any of the following areas: recreation, open space, outdoor recreation, horticulture, or forestry. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class “C” driver’s license throughout employment and must have their own reliable transportation for possible work-day transportation within the city.
Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and/or weekends and holidays. Must obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED, and possibly other certifications, throughout employment.
