University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking multiple FULL-TIME Parking Facility Ambassadors (Cashiers) to join the Department of Parking and Transportation Services. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate will perform cashiering activities related to parking facility fees and maintains records of cashiering operations. Maintain and assist with garage operations including inspection of facility on a routine basis and provides excellent customer services.

This is an essential designation position with rotating shifts. This position requires walking and standing/performing functions in favorable and unfavorable weather conditions.

PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Greet all customers entering and exiting the garage facilities and provide exemplary customer service.
2. Provide general information to assist parking patrons and provide assistance using directional equipment.
3. Receives and disburses funds following established procedures and guidelines; maintains records of monetary transactions.
4. Performs cashiering activities such as completing credit card transactions, making change, issuing receipts and balancing registers, receipts and disbursements.
5. Prepares currency for bank deposits, tallying totals of cash, charges and preparing end of shift report.
6. Operates automated equipment such as cash registers, charge terminals, computer terminals and other manual and automated office equipment in relation to parking and revenue control equipment.
7. Examines currency to detect counterfeiting, forgery or damaged money.
8. Prepares and submits records and reports pertaining to cash received.
9. Check parking facilities on a routine basis to ensure that all facilities and systems are functioning and available for patron use. Troubleshoot equipment when necessary. Report any outstanding issues to management staff
10. Ensure that cashier booth and surrounding areas are always maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
11. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: One year of related work experience
OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
General knowledge of cashiering function. Skill in making accurate monetary transactions; in performing mathematical computations. Ability to prepare written records and reports; to operate keyboards and calculators; to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers; to operate manual and automated office equipment and provide exceptional customer service.
Starting rate: $17.19 per hour
Note: New hires will receive a 2.5% adjustment to their base salary upon successful completion of 6-month probationary period.
