    Purpose

    This position is to provide skills in the non-routine receipt, disbursement, and recording of funds and to assist in the daily supervision of the cashiering function. Parking Service Representatives are responsible for supervision and assistance in the non-routine receipt, disbursement, and accountability of University funds, and for answering complex questions concerning policies and procedures of the University, as well as receiving cash or checks at a cashier’s window.

    Responsibilities

    • Receives cash, checks, or credit cards at a cashier’s window or from a prepay gate or lot entrance. Maintains a cash drawer bank. Balances cash drawer and prepares cash out reports daily. Provide continuous, exemplary customer service.
    • Completes various departmental and university forms and reports. Sells permits and other parking related items to customers. Accepts and posts payments for parking related items and services. Checks permits to verify authorization and assists in identification of stolen or altered permits. Communicates with various departments across campus via two-way radio and/or phone for auto assistance, boot verification, and security purposes. Use of common office machines and departmental software.
    • Drives UT vehicle to perform various job duties. May work in various locations across campus and must be proficient in garage, event, and surface operations. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Performs various parking related tasks. Performs daily, weekly, monthly, annual audits of permits and access cards. Compiles periodic reports. Performs related duties as assigned. General supervision over students and new cashiers. May assume duties of supervisor in his/her absence.

    Required Qualifications

    High school graduation or GED. Experience with large-scale receipt, disbursement and recording cash payments, or as a cashier handling cash transactions. Experience using a personal computer, and with clerical functions. Experience participating as a team member, providing excellent customer service. Experience completing reports, maintaining database records and maintaining files. Must have professional demeanor, show attention to detail, have reliable transportation, and display punctual, dependable attendance.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The above experience gained in a University department or large-scale parking environment.

    Driving Required

    This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

    Salary Range

    $37,440 + depending on qualifications, plus a 10% shift differential

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
