Toward that end, Student Affairs invites applications for the Part-Time Graduate/Professional Student Position within the Gender Equity Center (GenEq).
Penn State’s Gender Equity Center (GenEq) supports students who have been impacted by sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, harassment, and other campus climate issues. GenEq staff provide education, advocacy, referrals, and crisis intervention/support. All services are confidential and are provided free to our student communities.
This part-time position supports the work of GenEq, and assists in developing, editing, teaching, and outreach of prevention-based programming, promotional materials, and/or marketing/social media efforts regarding sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, harassment, and other campus climate issues
Job Description: The Gender Equity Center in Student Affairs at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to fill one part-time Graduate/Professional Student Prevention Education and Marketing position. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Outreach and education focused on Graduate and Professional student population
- Teaching workshops
- Developing/editing a variety of promotional materials
- Creating/editing various educational materials on relationship violence, sexual violence, supporting survivors, stalking, sexual and gender-based harassment, and bystander intervention
- Maintaining advertising, and creating posts for and maintaining social media accounts
- Peer Education, General Programming, and Presenting
Other general office responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing workshop materials
- Assisting with general office support such as answering phone calls, replying to emails, and greeting visitors in a positive and professional manner
- Attending staff meetings
- Staffing informational tables
- Planning, coordination, and staffing of Gender Equity Center events (i.e., Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Sexual Assault Awareness Months, Women’s History Month, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to maintain highly personal information in a confidential manner.
- Must be reliable and able to work evenings/weekends as needed to fulfill mission of position.
- Excellent writing and communication skills and a high level of organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position is a part-time position without benefits. Applicants must currently be enrolled as a graduate or professional student at Penn State University. Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
