The Group Exercise Instructor is a fitness position with responsibilities in the areas of group exercise and member experience.
General Responsibilities
- Meets the needs of all IUPUI Jaguar Campus Recreation group exercise participants.
- Maintains a safe and inclusive environment for members and facilitating group exercise classes for members (Yoga, Cycling, Zumba, Step, HIIT, Bootcamp, Pilates, Circuit Training, Etc.).
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Leisure Services, Sports Management, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- Group exercise and personal training experience.
- 1 year of experience managing program area.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Adult CPR/AED certification upon date of hire.
Preferred
- ACSM,ACE,NASM, and ISSA certifications.
SKILLS
Required
- Proficient communications skills.
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

1 – 5 hours per week.
