Position description

NYU’s Washington, DC Academic Center is seeking a local, part-time lecturer to teach an undergraduate politics course for upper-level undergraduate students. The course will be under the sponsorship of NYU’s College of Arts and Science.

The course is expected for Spring 2025 (late January to early May). The class meets once a week for three hours. In addition to the time required for syllabus and course preparation, classroom instruction, and assessment, the instructor is required to hold a minimum of one set 60-minute office hour per instruction day, during which the instructor will be available to meet with students. The instructor will work with the Politics department in New York to finalize the course description and the syllabus.

Course Description:

This course provides a general theoretical survey of the American Constitution, excepting its guarantee of individual rights, such as those enumerated in the Bill of Rights. The U.S. Constitution has endured for over two centuries as a touchstone for defining the U.S. as a sociocultural, economic, and political unit. As a text and as an idea, the Constitution continues to profoundly affect the fabric of American identity, political culture, and socioeconomic life.
