Part Time Naturalist

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department has one opening for permanent part time Naturalist position at Lake Houston Wilderness Park.

Lake Houston Wilderness Park: Part Time Naturalist                 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work at the Joe Turner Nature Center 28-30 hours per week with a flexible schedule including weekends
• Assist the Park Naturalist in leading and creating programming at the Nature Center. Teach environmental education to kids and adults of all ages
• Assist with animal care and handling
• Assist/lead camps, programs, and other outdoor recreation programs
• Assist with all aspects of park operations, grounds maintenance, and facility maintenance as needed

Requirements:

• Experience in environmental education and animal care
• Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, or related field preferred
• Must be able to work a flexible 28-30 hour work week including weekends and holidays
• Have a strong interest in the parks, conservation, or animal care fields
• Individuals must be detail oriented, organized, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
