Application Programmer I

Responsible for developing, designing, coding, and implementing projects and writing code of high complexity as required in support of the mission of the Graduate School. Applications reside in Salesforce Cloud Computing Platform, ASP.NET, and SQL Server. The person may be required often to create something entirely new and different to enhance existing Graduate School applications. The incumbent works to make updates and enhancements to existing database driven sites, as well as transitioning and enhancing Graduate School functionality in Salesforce and other centrally maintained platforms at the University.
IT strategic management – develop and implement the Graduate School’s IT operational and security policies and procedures in accordance with applicable UF Rules and ensure compliance from Graduate School IT systems users. Identifies third-party vendors for supporting and enhancing existing Graduate School IT systems, and works directly with technical support of these vendors for software download after purchase, installation, and upgrades.
Creates, manages, and maintains SQL Server databases, automates tasks by creating jobs that utilize SQL Server Agent, designs data structures in SQL Server, and does SQL Server performance tuning.
Maintains version control for all code written. Documentation includes how-to manuals for users, business rules, and developer notes. Creates and maintains documentation for internal use. Documentation includes business rules and developer notes.

$22.00 – $24.00/hour

Bachelor’s degree and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

A master’s degree in an IT-related field is desirable. High level of skill in ASP.Net, C# and SQL Server database is preferred, with work experience using ASP.NET and SQL Server databases. A thorough understanding of the Salesforce Cloud Computing Platform is preferred. The level of expertise and skill for a position in this classification is generally attained through combinations of education and experience in the field.
