Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.

Purpose of Position:

The NES Partnership Coordinator contributes to developing and achieving targets of Bahar Organization’s strategy by 1) donor engagement and external new business development; 2) supporting the development of program strategy and innovation; 3) as requested, representing the organization within forums, meetings, bilateral donor meetings; and 4) as requested, supporting communication and advocacy work within the organization through media, information management, and partnership development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Funding Acquisition/ Partner Development:

  • Monitor funding trends and opportunities and assist the NES Programmes Manager in preparing assessments and analysis for presentation to the Program managers and SMT.
  • Engage in NES Working Groups’ meetings and represent Bahar’s
  • Support the NES programme manager in identifying potential partners to expand and build engagement and funding levels.
  • In collaboration with the NES Programmes Manager, develop a series of concept notes that can be presented to potential donors on short notice.
  • Liaise with donor and partner representatives in the process of proposal development, negotiation, and final approval.
  • As requested, represent Bahar in strategic national and international meetings.

Media and Advocacy:

  • As requested, advise on media and communication strategies to ensure that Bahar’s values, vision, and programs are well reflected.
  • As requested, engage with advocacy actors, networks, and forums.

Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, Humanitarian Action, Disaster Management, or another relevant field. Master’s degree is desirable.

  • Minimum of three years relevant working experience in program/ partnership or grants coordination in humanitarian aid/ international development.

  • Proven track record in identifying, creating, and capitalizing on institutional funding opportunities.

  • Demonstrated experience in representing a non-profit organization and building personal and professional networks at a senior level.

  • Good understanding of program, financial, and operational management processes.

  • Good understanding of key trends in international and humanitarian development.

  • Experience building, leading, and developing a growing team of staff with different backgrounds and expertise, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility, span-of-control and performance.

  • Extensive experience working in an international and cross-cultural context.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including negotiation and presentation skills).

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity.

  • Settled character with the ability to cope with stressful, delicate, and possibly dangerous situations.

  • Language proficiency: Advanced (reading, writing, and speaking) English and Arabic is preferable.

  • MS Office proficiency.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.

  • Adhering to the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with institutional donor funding requirements and regulations.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to synthesize.

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of organization.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Solid organizational skills and multitasking skills.

  • Effective leadership, planning, and excellent dispute resolution skills.

    Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Willingness to work in a location different from what stated in the contract.

  • Willingness to work for extra hours as necessary.

    Evaluation Criteria

  • Performance / relationship with the NES Program Director and Programs Director.

  • Management performance based on feedback from department staff.

  • Technical performance of department based on internal and external feedback, evaluations, especially from donors and partners.

  • Ability to demonstrate success in meeting responsibilities included in the JD for this position.
