Job description

Do you have a passion for England’s finest landscapes and trails; our Areas of Outstanding
Natural Beauty (AONBs), National Parks (NPs), and National Trails (NTs)? Do you want to develop
and enhance the benefits these special places bring for nature, climate, and people?

If this appeals to you, working as one of the first Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinators
for the new Protected Landscape Partnership will offer you fantastic opportunities to be at the
forefront of protected landscape policy and delivery, securing environmental improvements and
playing your part in creating a better future for protected landscapes.

We are looking for 2 motivated and passionate individuals to work together to add value and
further build the nature recovery offer in line with nature recovery programmes that are
already underway throughout the Protected Landscape Partnership. In this role, you will work in
a cross-organisational partnership with two counterparts and a nature recovery lead hosted by
the other partners, to help develop and build the Protected Landscapes and trails’ joint
contribution toward the Government’s commitment to protect 30% of land and seas by 2030.

The team

There are 2 roles available working on behalf of the partnership for its duration and hopefully
beyond. The posts will be hosted by National Parks England and National Trails UK and will work
alongside one Nature Recovery Coordinator already in place in the NAAONB.

Each Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinator will be line managed within their host
organisation and will work collaboratively with a National Partnership Nature Recovery Lead,
hosted by Natural England.

Key tasks

As a Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinator your role would include:

  • Gathering the existing 30by30, Environment Act biodiversity targets and wider nature recovery
work, learning and knowledge from each organisation and their networks, identifying good
practice and sharing this with the partnership and other relevant partnerships
  • Providing solutions to unblock barriers relating to nature recovery delivery
  • Convening, engaging, and enabling your host organisation and associated network’s work on
nature recovery and climate change, including targets as captured in the Protected Landscapes
    Outcomes Framework
  • Working closely with your counterparts to ensure a joint, coordinated approach to working and
    sharing knowledge and learning
  • Working closely with the Partnership Evidence Coordinators to build a robust evidence base
    and case studies
  • Developing your host organisation’s contribution (under current resourcing) and wider
potential contribution (linking to additional resources/levers needed) towards the delivery of
30by30 and the emerging Outcomes Framework, sharing and learning from your counterparts
  • Acting as a point of liaison between your host organisation and Defra/Natural England/PLP on
nature recovery targets, initiatives, and relevant emerging policies
  • Developing a shared model for delivery together with the NR Lead and Partners
  • Supporting identifying landscape-scale nature recovery projects and potential pipelines of
    investible opportunities
  • Supporting the integration of nature recovery and climate change ambition in relevant
    Protected Landscapes Management Plans
  • Assisting the Communications Manager to tell local stories of success
  • Developing, measuring and reporting on progress against the Partnership Business Plan
    objectives
  • Support evaluation
