Job description

If this appeals to you, working as one of the first Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinators
for the new Protected Landscape Partnership will offer you fantastic opportunities to be at the
forefront of protected landscape policy and delivery, securing environmental improvements and
playing your part in creating a better future for protected landscapes.
We are looking for 2 motivated and passionate individuals to work together to add value and
further build the nature recovery offer in line with nature recovery programmes that are
already underway throughout the Protected Landscape Partnership. In this role, you will work in
a cross-organisational partnership with two counterparts and a nature recovery lead hosted by
the other partners, to help develop and build the Protected Landscapes and trails’ joint
contribution toward the Government’s commitment to protect 30% of land and seas by 2030.
The team
There are 2 roles available working on behalf of the partnership for its duration and hopefully
beyond. The posts will be hosted by National Parks England and National Trails UK and will work
alongside one Nature Recovery Coordinator already in place in the NAAONB.
Each Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinator will be line managed within their host
organisation and will work collaboratively with a National Partnership Nature Recovery Lead,
hosted by Natural England.
Key tasks
As a Partnership Nature Recovery Coordinator your role would include:
- Gathering the existing 30by30, Environment Act biodiversity targets and wider nature recovery
work, learning and knowledge from each organisation and their networks, identifying good
practice and sharing this with the partnership and other relevant partnerships - Providing solutions to unblock barriers relating to nature recovery delivery
- Convening, engaging, and enabling your host organisation and associated network’s work on
nature recovery and climate change, including targets as captured in the Protected Landscapes
Outcomes Framework - Working closely with your counterparts to ensure a joint, coordinated approach to working and
sharing knowledge and learning - Working closely with the Partnership Evidence Coordinators to build a robust evidence base
and case studies - Developing your host organisation’s contribution (under current resourcing) and wider
potential contribution (linking to additional resources/levers needed) towards the delivery of
30by30 and the emerging Outcomes Framework, sharing and learning from your counterparts - Acting as a point of liaison between your host organisation and Defra/Natural England/PLP on
nature recovery targets, initiatives, and relevant emerging policies - Developing a shared model for delivery together with the NR Lead and Partners
- Supporting identifying landscape-scale nature recovery projects and potential pipelines of
investible opportunities - Supporting the integration of nature recovery and climate change ambition in relevant
Protected Landscapes Management Plans - Assisting the Communications Manager to tell local stories of success
- Developing, measuring and reporting on progress against the Partnership Business Plan
objectives - Support evaluation
The Candidate
We welcome applicants from a range of experience and backgrounds and are looking for
individuals who have a broad combination of the skills set out below.
Essential:
- Applicants should have a relevant degree in an environmental discipline/ nature conservation,
or agriculture, or significant experience of working in the environmental sector - An understanding and experience of the delivery methods of nature recovery (e.g. biodiversity
net gain, agri-environment and green finance etc.) - An understanding of Protected Landscapes and awareness of the political environment in which
they operate - An understanding of England’s biodiversity, nature recovery and climate commitments along
with knowledge of associated UK/England Regulations and Legislative frameworks - A good understanding of UK agricultural practices and land management
- Experience of using and interpreting evidence and data
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of taking responsibility for managing relationships with
key partners, stakeholders and policy makers - Strong communications and presentation skills, both written and oral, with experience of
communicating complex issues to diverse audiences - Ability to work as part of a small team while also working and thinking independently, using
own initiative to find solutions and developing ideas - Effective facilitation and collaboration, using relevant tools and technology, online and
face-to-face - Experience of managing your own time, ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Competence in the use of IT, including ability to work with spreadsheets, databases &
presentation packages
The role will require travel. We encourage the use of active travel and public transport where
possible. A driving licence is not essential.
Desirable:
- An understanding of national policies and how it drives delivery on the ground
- Experience of Geographic Information Systems
- Experience of regenerative farming practices
- Experience in building landscape-scale nature recovery projects
- Experience in developing citizen science projects
- Understanding and experience of Green Finance and other private finance
- A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
