Part of the Strategic Partnerships Division (SPD), the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Section leads UN Women’s engagement with the private sector, corporations, philanthropy, foundations, and individuals – both in terms of a substantive components and resource mobilization – and it drives a wide range of UN Women’s global initiatives: HeForShe, Women Entrepreneurship Accelerator (WEA), Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and Unstereotype Alliance (UA). It also leads the work with all UN Women National Committees, and on the development of the individual/digital giving business line for private sector. PSP’s main aims are to ensure that UN Women develops and sustains high quality and impact focused partnerships to achieve maximum results for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Engagements & Special Initiatives Advisor and as a part of the Private Sector Partnerships Team, – Partnerships and HeForShe Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing portfolio of partnership accounts under the UN Women Private Sector Partnerships Engagement Strategy with particular focus on partners contributing to and implementing UN Women’s HeForShe Initiative.

 

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

Develop and manage partnerships and  resource mobilization strategies and initiatives

  • Manage, steward and coordinate relationships with a broad range of private sector partners, with focus on expanding and retaining       partnerships with private sector, particularly in the context of UN Women’s HeForShe initiative;
  • Research prospective partners and develop intelligence analysis materials to inform resource mobilization with private sector;
  • Provide technical inputs to senior management’s efforts to develop new and innovative partnerships;
  • Act as a direct entry point for private sector donors, building institutional relationships and steward the assigned private sector partnerships portfolio, agreements, engagement and activities;
  • Provide technical support to the development of project and fundraising proposals in line with UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and Private Sector Engagement Strategy 2023-2025;
  • Identify new opportunities to secure additional core and non-core resources for UN Women’s work with private sector, with a specific focus on HeForShe;
  • Provide technical support in the preparation of missions, meetings and other consultations with donors, including the preparation of notes, briefs and other materials;
  • Provide technical support the drafting and review of partner-specific Framework Arrangements and Cost Sharing Agreements;
  • Identify and mobilize key strategic partnerships to enhance impact and influence for UN Women’s strategic priorities.

Participate in knowledge building and information management

  • Contribute to the ad-hoc donor studies, research, and other activities to identify funding opportunities; update the resources mobilization strategy as needs emerge.
  • Monitor emerging issues that could affect partnerships and resource contributions (risk management).
  • Provide regular updates on partners profiles, databases (e.g. contacts management) and donor intelligence;
  • Advise, guide, and provide substantive inputs to the PSP resource mobilization approaches and strategies, especially focusing on strengthening and growing HeForShe Initiative partnerships;
  • Prepare high-level documents, talking points, briefs and other strategic papers/materials as and when requested;
  • Share knowledge and enhance organizational learning among UN Women teams through the development and use of on-line tools, templates, tips, mechanisms and guidelines;
  • Review regularly the annual work plan, deliverables and relevant budget/s and make recommendation/s to ensure its successful delivery.
  • Analyze the partnerships landscape to ensure optimal win-win partnerships for UN Women.

Coordinate and support advocacy and communications efforts

  • Contribute to the development of targeted advocacy and communications materials and products to mobilize new partnerships and attract additional donors’ funding;
  • Monitor emerging issues that could affect partnerships and resource contributions (risk management).

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide clear strategic analysis for partnership engagement for the purpose of partnership development and resource mobilization.

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in business management, project management, public administration, social science, or other related areas is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A Portfolio Management related certification (Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)® or Management of Portfolios (MoP®) is an asset

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible partnership development experience that combines advocacy and resource mobilization leadership in the area of gender equality is required.
  • Experience at the international level is required, preferably within the UN system, Agencies, Funds and Programs;
  • Experience in building, maintaining and managing relationships with private sector partners, governmental institutions and non-profit organizations is required.
  • Experience operating within cross-functional teams and effectively assessing and balancing cross-functional issues or risks is required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish
