How can you make a difference? 

  • Support Work Plan Implementation: Assist in the implementation of the work plan for the assigned area, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in line with UNICEF’s partnership strategy.
  • Assist in Building Partnerships: Aid in building and maintaining UNICEF’s partnerships by supporting the development and implementation of standards and guidance for partnerships, and assisting in the formulation of work plans and strategies.
  • Support Agreement Development: Help develop frameworks and templates, and assist in the review of partner agreements and amendments for senior staff approval, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations.
  • Maintain Partner Information: Keep information on partner and income trends up-to-date, analyze development assistance policies, and update resource partner profiles.
  • Maintain Relationships: Assist the supervisor in maintaining effective relationships with member states, UN agencies, NGOs, host governments, and other partners to keep them informed on key UNICEF operational issues.
  • Attend and Support Meetings: Attend meetings with the UN and other multilateral bodies, NGOs, and member states, taking notes, sharing information, and supporting joint information programs to enhance UNICEF’s profile and protect its interests.
  • Identify Synergy Opportunities: Contribute ideas for developing new and existing synergies with other UN agencies to senior external partnership officers to support a more effective and efficient approach to program delivery.
  • Prepare Informational Materials: Assist in preparing information to provide to member states, UN agencies, NGOs, host governments, and other partners on the strategy, design, relevance, and impact of programs to advocate for UNICEF’s work.
  • Share Feedback and Insights: Collate and share relevant discussion and feedback on program activities and priority issues gathered from various partners to engage them in inter-governmental/inter-agency discussions and inform future activities.
  • Support Inter-agency Work: Gather inputs from UNICEF that will contribute to inter-governmental/inter-agency work, ensuring that UNICEF positions are properly explained and considered in decision-making.
  • Monitor External Activities: Maintain awareness of current activities, political and social events of the UN and other multilateral bodies/governments, conduct analyses to understand their impact on UNICEF activities, and provide timely information to UNICEF staff for decision-making.
  • Conduct Research on New Partners: Conduct research on prospective new partners for UNICEF, providing analysis of their areas of work, outreach, financial base, and reputation.

The incumbent gathers, analyzes, and reports information to provide fact-based insights that inform approaches to partner relationships and support substantive discussions with partners. They capture relevant information and progress, ensuring internal information sharing. Accurate and timely information to partners strengthens the organization’s credibility, fostering trust and increasing resources. Well-analyzed support to senior management can enhance funding opportunities.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required : public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area.

Skills:  

  • Current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills
  • Strong familiarity with political and governmental processes.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organisation.
  • Knowledge of partnership development and resource mobilization.
  • Ability to contribute to formulation of strategies and policies.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
