How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of Partnerships & Advocacy Specialist (P3), the Partnerships and Advocacy Officer will support the office in establishing and deepening collaboration with key stakeholders (traditional and non-traditional donors) and helping to provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of assignment. The key result is to ensure partnerships, both public and private as well as advocacy with the business sector, yield tangible results for children in Belarus and increase visibility for UNICEF and influence in support of its mission.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

1. Contribute to the development and implementation of the CO private and public
partnerships strategy and associated work plan and ensure timely and cost-effective
delivery of results. Support the private partnerships advocacy and fundraising component ensuring that new partnerships are established and bring in-kind or financial contributions, have impact on the advocacy and programmatic results.

2. Liaise with Regional Private Sector Fundraising Hub and Regional Partnerships Adviser on advocating and leveraging resources for children and keeping them abreast of partnership developments and trends in the country.

3. Ensure effective coordination of fundraising and communication assets developed
locally and/or adapting regional and global assets.

4. Support the development of frameworks and templates and review partner agreements and amendments for senior staff approval, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations and due diligence.

5. Maintain a database with partner portfolios and their interest areas. Maintain up-to-date information on partner and income trends, analyse development assistance policies and keep resource partner profiles updated.

6. Support the supervisor and senior management in nurturing relationships with partners organizing meetings, events in support of partnership building efforts. Help maintain effective relationships with partners to keep them informed on important, strategic UNICEF issues.

7. Attend meetings with partners, taking notes, sharing information, and supporting joint information programmes to increase UNICEF’s profile, and protect its interests.

8. Contribute to ideas for opportunities to develop new and existing partnerships to
support a more effective and efficient approach to programme delivery.

9. Assist with the preparation of information to provide to partners on UNICEF’s
programmes, pitch documents, proposals, concept notes, and others to advocate the work of UNICEF.

10. Collate and share relevant discussion and feedback on programme activities and issues of priority to UNICEF, gathered from partners, to inform future activities.

11. Maintain awareness of current activities, political, social, economic events, conduct analysis to understand how they may impact UNICEF activities and programmes and provide timely information to UNICEF staff for decision-making.

12. Conduct research on perspective new partners for UNICEF, and provide analysis of the areas of work, outreach, financial based and reputation of prospective partners.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or another relevant technical field.

    Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant professional work experience is required.

    Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Russian is required. Knowledge of Belarusian is an asset.

    Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
    Background/familiarity with emergency is considered as an asset.
    Experience of working across teams.
    Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill, and present information.
    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working against multiple deadlines.
