Mission and objectives
With 174 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) established its operations in Kuwait in 1991. Across the country IOM has worked in close partnership with the Government of Kuwait on migration governance including strengthening the capacity of relevant national counterparts on protection of victims of trafficking. The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement.
IOM works in the four broad areas of migration management:
Migration and development
Facilitating migration
Regulating migration
Forced migration.
IOM activities that cut across these areas include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of f migrants’ rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration.

Context
This United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assignment is embedded within the IOM Kuwait Country Office and supports the Office’s efforts to expand and institutionalize private sector engagement and engagement on the Sustainable Cooperation Framework. The assignment contributes to strengthening partnerships with private companies and business networks to support IOM’s programmes, enhance sustainability, and promote shared value approaches aligned with national development priorities and the UN system’s engagement with the private sector.

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, the UN Volunteer will:
1- Support the engagement with private sector in line with IOM’s strategic priorities and mission objectives.
2- Assist in outreach and engagement activities with private sector entities, including preparation of briefing materials, participation in meetings, and follow‑up on partnership discussions.
3- Support the development of partnership concepts and collaboration ideas aligned with private sector priorities and IOM Kuwait’s programme areas, including climate change, regular pathways, and protection‑related interventions.
4- Support the planning and organization of meetings, events, and engagement activities with private sector partners, including drafting agendas, background notes, presentations, and other supporting documentation.
5- Support in IOM engagement with Joint Work Plans that will lead to the implementation of activities under the Sustainable Cooperation framework.
