Mission and objectives
IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) established its operations in Kuwait in 1991. Across the country IOM has worked in close partnership with the Government of Kuwait on migration governance including strengthening the capacity of relevant national counterparts on protection of victims of trafficking. IOM has organized several workshops and awareness raising campaigns on the topic of human trafficking and the rights of domestic workers. Learn more about IOM in Kuwait.
The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement.
IOM works in the four broad areas of migration management:
Migration and development
Facilitating migration
Regulating migration
Forced migration.
IOM activities that cut across these areas include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of f migrants’ rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration.
Context
* This assignment is part of a UNV-funded initiative designed to bring fresh, diverse talent into UN programmes from countries that are currently unrepresented among UN Volunteers. It offers a unique opportunity to help ensure that global volunteering truly reflects the world we serve, while giving participating UN Volunteers meaningful, hands on experience with leading UN partners. As such, the initiative targets candidates from the following nationalities: Andorra, Croatia, Estonia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, Slovenia
Task description
1- Support the engagement with private sector in line with IOM’s strategic priorities and mission objectives.
2- Assist in outreach and engagement activities with private sector entities, including preparation of briefing materials, participation in meetings, and follow‑up on partnership discussions.
3- Support the development of partnership concepts and collaboration ideas aligned with private sector priorities and IOM Kuwait’s programme areas, including climate change, regular pathways, and protection‑related interventions.
4- Support the planning and organization of meetings, events, and engagement activities with private sector partners, including drafting agendas, background notes, presentations, and other supporting documentation.
5- Support in IOM engagement with Joint Work Plans that will lead to the implementation of activities under the Sustainable Cooperation framework.
