ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Provide spiritual and emotional support to residents.
- Conduct regular visits to residents to offer companionship, counselling, and pastoral care services.
- Respect and honour the religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds of residents, providing support tailored to their individual needs.
- Offer prayers, spiritual readings, or religious rituals according to residents’ preferences and faith traditions.
- Listen empathetically to residents’ concerns, providing a compassionate and non-judgmental presence.
- Assist residents in coping with grief, loss, and end-of-life issues, offering comfort and support during difficult times.
- Facilitate religious services, ceremonies, or group discussions on spiritual topics for interested residents.
- Collaborate with other members of the care team, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure holistic care for residents.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect residents’ privacy while providing pastoral care services.
- Keep detailed records of interactions with residents and report any significant concerns or observations to appropriate staff members.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance pastoral care skills and knowledge.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive community within the aged care facility, promoting spiritual well-being and emotional resilience among residents.
ABOUT YOU:
- At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or other relevant qualification
- Theological and/or other relevant graduate qualifications
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to lead a Catholic Communion Service (desirable)
