The Role

The role of the patient and public involvement (PPI) co-research associate is to contribute to the successful delivery of a NIHR-funded HS&DR research Project: NIHR131356 – Implementation of the non-medical practitioner workforce into the urgent and emergency care system skill-mix in England: a mixed methods study of configurations and impact. This mixed methods study started in March 2021, and is led by an experienced, interdisciplinary research team. The co-researcher will bring PPI perspectives to the team’s analysis and interpretation of data. Research activities may include supporting recruitment of patients to interview and carrying out  interviews by phone or video conferencing. The post-holder will conduct analysis of the patient interview data alongside other researchers and assist with analysis of other qualitative and quantitative data, as well as contribute to understanding the literature related to the study and providing advice and input to dissemination activities.

The Person

You will have experiential knowledge of bringing the patient or public perspective to funded research studies, with some experience of carrying out qualitative interviews and their analysis, with an awareness of research ethics and governance. Ideally you would have experience of doing research with the NHS and some understanding of new types of staff roles. You will have good interpersonal skills, a good standard of written and spoken English, the ability to organise work and meet deadlines, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

This is a part time (14.80 hours per week), fixed term position for 6 months with a starting salary of £12,908.40 per annum (40% pro rata to £32,271 per annum).
