Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.As the Payroll Co-ordinator you will be accountable for working with the Payroll Officer, and Senior Officer to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient, high quality, payroll service to staff and managers across the Charity. You will be required to provide an effective and accurate output of work to meet the demands of the role, ensuring a consistently high level of customer care is provided, and work to agreed timeframes and tight deadlines.You will be responsible for:

  • Administering the payment of employee salaries through our payroll system, collating and inputting all relevant information for the monthly payroll cycle including new starters, leavers, contract changes, timesheets, ad-hoc payments, Court Orders, voluntary deductions, and loans to ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time and consistently whilst managing expectations of employees and the Charity.
  • Providing administrative support to the Payroll Officers, Senior Payroll Officer and Payroll Manager as and when required
  • Ensuring manual and computerised records are accurately maintained and updated regularly in line with data protection requirements to maintain data integrity of payroll for accounting and reporting purposes.
  • Working collaboratively and in a supportive manner within the Payroll, Pensions, HR, People Operations, and Finance teams, together with other departments within the charity to ensure that the overall strategic aims and objectives of the organisation are achieved.

Key Criteria:

  • Experience of payroll or finance administration covering a broad range of duties in a busy environment
  • Solid Payroll/Finance database skills.
  • Strong IT skills particularly Microsoft and Excel skills with the ability to manipulate spreadsheet data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond to general payroll enquiries
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to organise own workload to meet deadlines on a timely basis
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build appropriate professional, friendly and accessible relationships with staff and managers who use the service
  • A self-starter with a professional, proactive ‘can do’ attitude
