Peatlands Programme Manager (Wetland Conservation / River Restoration / Natural Flood
Management)
Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week
Contract – Fixed term until March 2027
Shropshire Wildlife Trust has secured funding from Shropshire Council and DEFRA to deliver
Natural Flood Management (NFM) measures in the peat dominated catchment of the River Perry.
This is one of the projects that contributes towards the Shropshire based schemes delivering a
pipeline set of ‘demonstrator’ projects which support early thinking and work by the
Environment Agency on the Severn Valley Water Management Scheme (SVWMS), to test innovative
solutions to long term flooding issues and use natural flood management techniques to ‘slow the
flow’ of water.
What you will be doing:
The Postholder will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of the ‘Perry and
Peatlands’ project, will look after discrete elements of larger projects and will oversee a
number of other small and medium size projects delivered by other members of the team.
You will bring project management skills that can be cascaded through the wider team. The line
manager will work with the postholder to maintain a balanced individual work programme with
clear outputs and outcomes. For individual projects or elements of projects the postholder will
work directly with the project lead who has decision-making authority for those projects.
