Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, (AHS) invites applications from pediatric infectious diseases physicians for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position within the Department of Child Health Alberta Health Services and the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. Appropriate applicants could be considered for the position of Divisional Director. This position is a full time (1.0 FTE).

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will join five academic physicians in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases with expertise in many areas including antimicrobial stewardship, global health, infection prevention and control, pediatric tuberculosis, transplant ID, and vaccinology, and a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited ID training program. Within the clinical mandate of the Department and Division, the successful candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient consultation. Within the academic mandate of the Department and Division the successful candidate will participate in already existing active educational scholarship programs.

This position will comprise approximately 60% clinical service and 40% academic or administrative pursuits: for example, research, teaching, and administrative duties such as Divisional Director for the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Contributions to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels are expected from all faculty members.

Qualifications

  • MD and have completed a specialty residency in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases
  • Proven record of high-quality research achievements as evidenced by peer-reviewed funding and high impact publications
  • Eligible to obtain a specialist license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and hold appropriate liability coverage.

WCHRI is a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding support from the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Women’s Health Foundation. Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
