The opportunity

The University of Salford is seeking to recruit a Peer Assisted Learning Manager to help realise our strategic goal to provide our students with a bold, distinctive, and accessible lifewide learning experience, co-created in partnership with students and industry, co-delivered on campus, online, and in the workplace.

If you have the skills to lead change and influence people, to manage complex projects, and to work collaboratively with students and colleagues to create inclusive learning experiences, then this job is for you.

Responsibilities and skills

This Peer Assisted Learning Manager role has been created to lead the inception, design, delivery and evaluation of an ambitious university-wide Peer Assisted Learning (PALS) scheme. A key project within the University’s Education & Employability Strategy, this new scheme will support students’ learning and skills development, provide participants with social opportunities, and build communities where students actively learn from each other.

Initially, you will draw on your project management experience to lead the delivery of a project to design, roll out and evaluate the impact of the PALS scheme, including building a team of student peer assisted learning leaders, and working with academic teams to integrate PALS into the learning experience. You will then be responsible for overseeing a successful transition to sustainable long-term delivery of effective peer assisted learning across the organisation.

You will have a track record in supporting students’ development and breaking down barriers to learning. You will build strong relationships and work in partnership across the University and Students’ Union to develop a scheme that works for our students. As a persuasive and inspiring communicator, you will drive high levels of engagement across the organisation so that PALS becomes an embedded part of the student experience and helps ensure excellent and equitable outcomes for all.
