  • Part Time, Permanent (FTE 0.8).
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 5 with a salary range of $97,476 – $101,883 per annum (pro rata) + Superannuation.
  • Salary packaging arrangements (increasing your take home income pay!)

About your new role

The Peer Practice Leader must have a lived experience of mental illness and a rich understanding of their own processes of recovery. They must be willing to purposefully use their own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery. The Peer Practice Leader will provide psychosocial peer support to consumer accessing our service in alignment with the collaborative relational practice. They will work collaboratively with consumer on identifying their recovery goals. They will also facilitate a variety of our psychosocial group programs.

The Peer Practice Leader will work in a multidisciplinary team with clinicians, and peer wellbeing coaches within the Living and learning Centre. They will show strong leadership skills amongst the team and provide support and professional development sessions and guidance to peer wellbeing coaches. The Peer Practice leader will report to the Clinical service manager and work collaboratively with the clinical lead to look at ways the service may improve its practice, drawing on their peer practice framework. As with other Neami staff, Peer Practice Leaders have access to a tailored training program and to regular opportunities to reflect upon their practice.

What you will bring to the role

Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use of trauma.

Essential:

  • Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery.
  • Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery.
  • A rich understanding of your own processes of recovery and an ability to articulate learning outcomes from recovery processes.
  • Demonstrated practice in performing as a leader.

Desirable:

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Peer Work in Mental Health or related field.
  • Previous work experience in a peer worker role, and knowledge of the community sector.
  • Computer literate.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating groups, including the ability to prioritise different needs within a group.

  • National Criminal History Check (police check) – disclosable outcomes considered.
  • Current Working with Children Check – required before commencement of work.
  • Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car.
  • Australian working rights.
