About the role
The Early Intervention Psychological Support Response Service (EIPSRS) provides a person-centered approach to recovery which is tailored to meet the needs of people living with mental ill health in the community. EIPSRS provides an individualised, tiered program of recovery support of up to 12 months delivered to clients with the level of engagement determined by their needs, services include individual support, one-on-one outreach services and group work. The services are designed to enhance recovery, achieve wellbeing goals, build capacity and life skills, maintain sustainable housing, improve relationships with families and carers, develop social and community connections, and live safely and independently in the community.
We are seeking an empathic, self-motivated Peer Practitioner for a permanent full time opportunity to work in the Boroondara and Yarra areas. Working from home, you will utilise your lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to deliver assertive person-centred outreach services to clients to achieve their recovery goals, build capacity and living skills, strengthen social and community networks, maintain housing and live independently. As this position requires travel across the regional area a fully maintained company car is provided.
Key responsibilities
- Utilise your own lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and that of the team.
- Deliver high quality outreach services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
- Support clients to remain in their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
- Provide information and mentoring to clients to establish connections with families and carers, create community networks and access to relevant services.
- Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing your own learnings and recovery orientated practice is required.
- Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
- Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
- Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
