- Classification: SCHADS Level 3 with a salary range of $71,215 – $76,353 per annum pro rata + Superannuation

About your new role
The Peer Support Worker (PSW) role is an exciting opportunity responsible for delivering high quality services to consumers experiencing mental health and alcohol and other drug concerns. Peer Support Workers are integral members of the team and represent 50% of the workforce within the Step Thru Care service. PSW’s draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness and/or AOD use, mental health and/or AOD crisis or caring for someone living with a mental illness or experiencing AOD concerns, to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery.
Peer Support Workers are an important element of the team approach and bring the wisdom of experience to many aspects of service delivery including intake interviews, managing a caseload, group work, service promotion, partnership work and case reviews. To be considered for this role, you must have a lived experience of your own mental illness and/or AOD use/caring role, and a rich understanding of processes of recovery. You must also be willing to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery.
What you will bring to the role?
- Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Work or Cert IV in Mental Health or a commitment to work towards within the first 12 months.
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- A valid Police check.
- A valid and current Australian Driver License and access to personal vehicle.
- Lived experience of mental illness and/or AOD use, mental health and/or AOD crisis and demonstrated experience of recovery and/or Lived experience in caring for someone living with a mental illness or AOD concerns.?
- Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma
- Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery
- Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instill confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery
