Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Services and working closely with the CEO, the People & Culture Lead will lead and support the organisation’s people and culture objectives to contribute to the Key Strategic Initiative outlined in Philanthropy Australia’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. This role will build a psychologically safe workplace that is aligned to its mission and values, and where staff are engaged, supported and fulfilled. This generalist role is responsible for supporting and managing the employee lifecycle, WHS and compliance and staff engagement activities. As the sole HR professional in the organisation, this role will have the unique opportunity to influence and lead the P&C strategy and make an impact on culture and success.

You will develop and implement the annual plan, including staff workshops/conferences, engagement surveys and projects, and learning and development activities. You will provide HR-related advice to employees as well as informed analysis and advice on operational and people-related issues. This role also leads the staff RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) group. You can lead by example, living out organisation values while showing a transparent, empowering, action-oriented approach to people management and leadership. Your admin tasks will include activities such as reviewing HR and related policies, leading the recruitment and review processes, updating employee records, support pay runs and create Board reports.

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or Certificate IV in Human Resource Management or a related field or experience.
  • Experience in a similar role being both strategic and operational in supporting people and culture work, including recruitment, onboarding, cultural and engagement activities, legislation compliance and WHS.
  • Previous experience interpreting Awards and reviewing for compliance. Demonstrated experience implementing a People & Culture Strategy and/or Annual Plan, along with a good understanding of change management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, able to build high trust and rapport across all areas.
  • Ability to promote a culture of giving and receiving feedback and coaching others to do the same.
  • Proven track record implementing and managing HR initiatives, streamlining processes and ensuring service excellence in HR practices.
  • A history of working within a membership organisation or the philanthropic/for-purpose sector is desirable.
  • Previous Administrator level usage of Employment Hero is also desirable.
