About Us

EthicalJobs.com.au is working to change the world, one job at a time.

We bridge the gap between Australians who want to “work for a better world” and the thousands of for-purpose organisations that tirelessly strive to create that better world.

As a successful, for-profit social enterprise and one of Australia’s top job-search sites for the not-for-profit sector and beyond, we support the work of more than 9,000 for-purpose organisations around the country, and have a passionate community of 380,000+ unique users visiting the site each month.

We also make regular donations to small organisations that are having a big social or environmental impact across Australia – we’ve donated over $1.5 million since 2009, and we’ve catalysed over $1.7 million in donations from the community on top of that.

We’ve consistently grown our overall impact for 14 years since we launched in 2009.

You’ll be joining a dedicated, passionate and successful team of 30 people who share a vision of a more equitable, just and sustainable world.

We work mostly remotely, but you have the option to work from our spacious office in Collingwood which has loads of natural light, high ceilings, standing desks, a large outdoor deck for lunch in the sun and drinks after work, and great food and coffee just around the corner.

About the role

We’re excited to bring on board an experienced senior People & Culture Manager to join our 4-person leadership team and bring additional wisdom and insight to our people-related challenges.

We’ve built a strong and positive team culture, we have clear values (see below) and we’re looking for an experienced people leader to further develop these and work across our organisation.

As well as taking responsibility for our annual People & Culture plan and metrics, you’ll oversee and contribute to:

  • Recruitment for all roles
  • Onboarding and offboarding of all team members
  • Quarterly staff surveys
  • Regular performance development reviews for team members
  • Our Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
  • Professional development / training for team members
  • Compensation and benefits structure for all roles
  • Social events, lunches and gifts for team anniversaries, birthdays & farewells
  • Risk mitigation, including occupational health and safety (OHS)
  • P&C policy and process development

You’ll also help connect all our team members to our purpose, as well as supporting our managers/team leaders with their people-related challenges.

You’ll be part of our weekly Leadership Team meetings, making collaborative decisions on all the key questions for us as an organisation.

And finally, you’ll manage our Office, Projects, People & Culture Coordinator.

About you

First and foremost, you’re someone who’s passionate about making a difference and “working for a better world”, and you’re excited about the work EthicalJobs.com.au does.

You’re also experienced, having worked in HR/P&C roles for at least 5 years, so you’ve got deep knowledge of the employee lifecycle and all things ‘people and culture’. Plus you’ve got experience managing people yourself.

You understand people and employee engagement, and you appreciate the supreme importance to any organisation of hiring the right people, both to ensure success in their roles and alignment with an organisation’s culture and values.

You love data and have experience drawing insights from data to guide your decision making.

You’re a great communicator, you love giving and receiving feedback, and you consider and understand how things large and small impact other people. You love to make people feel supported, valued and included, but you’re also not afraid to have challenging conversations when needed.

And finally, as a leader yourself you’ve got a genuine desire to help others improve their own leadership practice.

What do you get beyond a great remuneration package?

  • Flexible start/finish hours
  • Work remotely most days if you’d like
  • Flexibility to work a 9-day fortnight if you’d like
  • Amazing paid maternity/paternity leave entitlements
  • Paid professional development opportunities
  • Monthly social events
  • The opportunity to have a real impact on the work of over 9,000 charities and social enterprises across Australia!

Plus when you’re working in our Collingwood office:

  • A light- and plant-filled work space, with beautiful outdoor deck for outdoor meetings and drinks, and close to public transport
  • A standing desk
  • Unlimited fruit, nuts, chocolate, tea and coffee
  • Pet-friendly workplace – a number of staff regularly bring their dogs in to make the office more fun.

Our Team Values

We’re:

  • Impactful: We work with purpose and are passionate about building a better world. We’re progressive, seeking to make an impact every day and set an example for ethical work.
  • Caring: We’re compassionate, supportive and proactively help each other out. We have a positive outlook and aim to have fun at work.
  • Open: We’re transparent and honest. We communicate openly and listen to each other. We respect different opinions and trust each other’s abilities.
  • High Performing: We’re focused, dedicated, resilient and resourceful. We try to do our best every day and improve our work over time. We strive to learn and grow as individuals, and we recognise our achievements as a team.
