We are a creative, ambitious and inclusive People and Organisational Development team and we need you to assist us in providing a comprehensive proactive Human Resource (HR) service to members of the University Community. You will work as part of a collaborative People Services team who support each other by working together and in line with our University Values. The team share information and solve problems together in an innovative and enterprising way, always striving to provide the best possible service.

About this role: The role involves working within a fast paced, friendly, and supportive environment.

Our People Services Assistants are the first point of contact for queries and guidance relating to HR policy and procedures. You will take forward HR related issues that come into the People Services team via a range of sources, supporting with query resolution and/or signposting them on as required. Day to day, you will be involved in a range of tasks, such as processing contractual changes, UKVI and DBS process management, fixed term contract management and running and manipulating monthly reports for the team and managers.

About you: You don’t have to have worked in Higher Education or have been to university to apply for this role.

You will be confident with technology and very familiar with the features of Microsoft Office 365 such as Outlook mail and calendar; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote; and collaboration services such as Teams, SharePoint and Yammer.

You will understand the importance of confidentiality and will be a constructive, positive communicator who is capable of building rapport across a wide range of stakeholders.

You will have experience of working in a busy team, dealing with queries from a range of sources and experience of working on a telephone helpline would be beneficial.

Your attention to detail will be second to none, along with being able to demonstrate accurate data entry and a mind set for the continuous improvement of processes.

You will have experience of working collaboratively towards common goals and will be looking to enhance your own personal learning and development, as well as supporting the development of those around you.

This is a full time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.

This role is a frontline support role, and you will be supporting a telephone, phone and in-person HR Helpline which opens at 8.30am each day, requiring cover to be provided until 5pm (Monday to Thursday) and 4.30pm (Friday).

To enable us to provide this service, the working pattern for this post will be Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, and Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, inclusive of a 1 hour unpaid break each day.

This post is available on a job share basis.

This role is campus based with some opportunity for home working at the current time, based around required on site activity and a flexible team rota to ensure continuous cover is provided on-site for our in-person customers.
