The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) is the European association representing community pharmacists. PGEU has 33 national delegations made up of 40 member associations. Through its Member Associations, PGEU represents more than 500,000 community pharmacists and 200.000 pharmacies in the European Region.

PGEU’s primary role is to promote the role of community pharmacists in the policy and regulatory framework at EU level, and to serve as a forum for the exchange of information and best practices among its members. Further information is available on PGEU website: www.pgeu.eu.

The economic advisor reports to the Secretary General and provides PGEU members with information and advice on economic issues that have an impact on the pharmacy sector.

Your responsibilities:

  • Monitor EU legislative and non-legislative initiatives that have an impact on the pharmacy sector including pharmaceutical, internal market, competition, digital policies etc.;
  • Draft PGEU position papers, responses to public consultations and technical briefings;
  • Prepare economic analysis, annual reports, work programmes, activity reports;
  • Support the representation of PGEU in relevant external meetings, conferences and multi-stakeholder organizations;
  • Maintain and develop contacts with EU officials, Member of the European Parliament, member state national representations and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Represent PGEU in the working groups of the European Medicines Verification Organization (EMVO);
  • Collect, analyse and validate national economic pharmacy practice data from PGEU member associations;
  • Monitor macro-economic indicators and trends affecting the pharmacy sector and develop evidence-based economic analyses.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • University degree in economics or pharmacy;
  • An advanced university degree in health economics, pharmacoeconomics or supply chain management will be considered as an advantage;
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the health care sector;
  • Sound knowledge of the EU institutions and procedures;
  • Strong interest in pharmaceuticals and health care policies;
  • Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Ability to take initiatives and adapt in a small and highly motivated team;
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder contexts will be considered as an asset.
