Position Summary
This position manages daily operations of pharmacy, ensuring current licensure/registrations; ensures staff compliance with policies and procedures, education and training requirements.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises pharmacy staff for accurate order entry, preparation, labeling, dispensing, and checking of medications in ensuring proper techniques, procedures, and supplies are utilized in preparation of IV admixtures and oral medications.
- Ensures appropriate ordering, receipt, return, and destruction of investigational drugs occurs, and accurate drug accountability is maintained for all division protocols, including CALGB, NSABP, HOG, and RTOG.
- Ensures Policy and Procedure manuals are available and up to date.
- Manages controlled substances with scheduled inventories and appropriate ordering, including completion of DEA Form 222 for Schedule 2 controlled substances.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, securing/renewing licenses and registrations as required.
- Supervises drug purchasing and manages pharmacy inventory.
- Ensures appropriate staffing and scheduling.
- Monitors pharmacy quality assurance processes, including temperature monitoring of refrigerators and freezers, IV hood cleaning, checking expiration dates, compliance with drug recalls, Pyxis floor stock QA requirements, IV clean room requirements, and appropriate prescription filing.
- Ensures staff compliance with continuing education programs, pharmacy-related programs, and training programs as required for license renewals and job description.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharm D degree.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of current state and federal regulations affecting pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrated ability to implement standards of accuracy and judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharm degree.
- Three to five years of experience in IV admixture and cytotoxic drug procedures.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Current registration in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois as a Pharmacist and Basic Life Support certification. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.).

Salary Range
$107,600.00 – $193,600.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
