Summary of Job Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the PRN Pharmacy Technician I will assist and support the pharmacist in the day-to-day dispensing operation of patient care. The dispensing operation includes gathering the appropriate medication, researching data in the EPIC computer system, compounding medications, maintaining appropriate and adequate stock in all pharmacy areas, and other duties related to dispensing medication to the patient.

It leads to better health outcomes and wiser allocation of resources, and greater patient and family satisfaction. Qualifications:

Level I:

  • Pharmacy technician license through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.

Level II:

  • Two (2) years of pharmacy technician work experience
  • Pharmacy technician license through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician  (CPhT)  issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Level III:

  • Three (3) years of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail setting
  • Pharmacy Technician License through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) issued by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PCTB)
  • Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and EMR experience)

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize work based on immediate need and rapidly changing workload.  

  • Work as a team member to efficiently, accurately perform day-to-day work along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals.

  • Assist the Technician I, Technician II, and Technician III as it relates to day-to-day dispensing functions, task, and job duties to provide timely and efficient patient service.  

  • Assist with prioritizing day-to-day workflow and immediate need.

  • May perform other tasks as assigned.

Extra-Help positions are required to work two (2) shifts a month with a maximum of 1200 hours in a 12 month floating period. Concurrent employees work one (1) shift a month with a maximum of 1200 hours per year in a 12 month floating period.
