Offer Description
The researcher’s main objective will be to study the cognitive and motivational processes of individuals in the context of adopting new behaviors, changing behaviors, and maintaining these behaviors over time. The field of application of this research is the study of digital applications for urban travel.
Main activities:
o The researcher’s work will involve studying how cognitive and motivational processes are involved in the adoption of new behaviors in humans, their change and maintenance over time. It will also look at how this knowledge can be used in the design of digital applications for human users (e.g. via gamification). The field of application of this project concerns urban mobility, and in particular “mobility as a service” (MaaS) systems.
o The methods used by the researcher will be mainly experimental and questionnaire-based. He/she will coordinate the design of the studies, collect and analyze the data, and coordinate the drafting of the corresponding scientific articles and reports.
The CLLE laboratory (Cognition, Languages, Language, Ergonomics) is a CNRS UMR created in January 2007 and mainly hosted on the Toulouse Jean Jaurès University site. It is a multidisciplinary research unit relating to Cognitive Sciences: the work carried out there covers the fields, more or less broad in scope, of linguistics, psychology, computer science, philosophy, education and neuroscience. The laboratory, made up of 205 members, is structured into 3 teams each composed of an average of 25 Teachers-Researchers and Researchers:
• “Languages and language” team, working more particularly on themes relating to linguistics;
• “Language and cognitive processes” team, focused on the interdisciplinarity between language and psychology;
• “Cognition in complex situations” team, working more particularly on themes of social and cognitive psychology.
The laboratory is also developing transversal research axes between these teams.
It also welcomes many doctoral and post-doctoral students.
CLLE is a CNRS UMR with the CCU experimental platform.
As a partner of the interdisciplinary project VILAGIL co-funded by Toulouse Métropole, TISSEO, SICOVAL and the State (PIA) for 10 years (2019-2029), the CLLE Laboratory is looking for several post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.
The “Acceptability” work package of the VILAGIL project involves the CLLE, LISST and SMAC-IRIT laboratories. The aim of this work is to understand the acceptability of all future mobility devices (autonomous vehicles of individual and collective levels 3 to 5) whether one is a user (passenger; passenger-supervisor) of these vehicles or in interaction with them (motorist, cyclists, pedestrians). More generally, the aim is to provide answers as to the conditions for accepting and appropriating all the changes in individual mobility (soft mobility, diversity of individual mobility media, rationalization of mobility and the establishment of alternative places of work, etc.). The VILAGIL project benefits from two technological platforms: Simulauto (driving simulator on a mobile base) and autOCampus (experimental road integrating connected street furniture and a level 5 vehicle).
The “Mobility as a Service” sub-action (MaaS) aims to design and develop intelligent systems that offer individuals the best possible mobility solutions within an urban area (Toulouse Métropole, Portes de Gascogne). The design of these systems must be user-centric for an optimal user experience. The design considers the needs, expectations and capabilities of the users in order to achieve usable and acceptable systems for which users are engaged and enjoy their use. One solution would be to design so-called gamified systems.
Promoting the usability or acceptability of these systems requires an understanding of the cognitive and motivational processes involved in their use. More generally, it is necessary to understand how to design these systems to enable new behaviors to emerge, change and/or be maintained over time. This knowledge can be applied to the study of digital applications for human users and their design (e.g. via gamification). See the team’s previous studies on the subject for more information on the project and the initial results obtained (Caroux et al., 20211; Avril et al., 20222; Oberoi et al., 20223, Avril et al., 20234).
